How does the Species data search work?
- You can search for data using Simple or Advance Search at either the Home or data Download pages.
- To make a Simple Search:
- Choose Simple Search tab
- Choose either Common Name or Scientific Name to begin search
- Type in the text string of interest. The string can be the full name or a string in the Species or Common Name
- You can limit your search to any of five IUCN Redlist categories by checking one or all the boxes below before hitting Text Search
- To make an Advance Search:
- Choose Advance Search tab
- Choose Species or Family to proceed with search
- Choose the level to search. The dropdown list at each of the classification levels (Class, Order, Family, Genus and Species) allows navigation to limit search at lower levels
- Hit Class Query button to search. At any time during the search you can select any or all of the IUCN Redlist threat status to limit search results.
Note: Do not check any of the five IUCN Redlist categories to expand search results to species not matching the five categories. The IUCN Redlist threat status includes nine categories of threat including Not Evaluated.
