  1. The tool download urban data is not easy to find after defining the extent

    Dear CIESN,

    You have great data but your tool to download is not intuitive, even after defining the extent. I have been trying but I can download. Instructions also are not intuive. My suggestion is its should obvious after someone define the extent of the area they are interested in.

  6. Accessing data from jupyterhub?

    A research project of mine lead me to the dataset on geocoded natural disasters on SEDAC: https://doi.org/10.1038/s41597-021-00846-6

    I'm trying to access the dataset from my lab's jupyterhub server, however I haven't been able to. I tried using NASA earthaccess for this, but it seems that earthaccess tokens don't work for SEDAC datasets.

    Right now the only way I have been able to access the data is to use the 'point and click' approach where I login in the SEDAC website and download the data to my personal computer. This does not work on a server, however, because there is no…

  10. clarify normalization approach as the min and max provided do not allow to recalculate the scores

    I am working as a project leader on a UN project called ISPAR and I am asked by Member States to recalculate countries' scores and ranks. for most indicators, the information provided is enough. However, for others in particular the indicators named GHP and GHN, PMD, TCL, GRL and WTL, as well as RMS et FTD, full information for the min and max is not provided which make it impossible to exactly recalculate and get the exact same scores and ranks. as a result, Member States have a lot of questions and are reluctant to use the index to guide…

    • Line 56: What was the reason the authors chose 1/8 for the weighted average for the moving window (3 x 3 window)? The convention is 1/9 for the (n=9 gridded cell window)

  14. Correction of Maldives data necessary?

    Hello to the GPWv4-Team,

    I am currently using the 2020 population density database (rev-11) in the 15-min precicion and I might have found an error in the database:

    The data of the Maldives seems to be some orders of magnitude too high. It could be that the population density of some of the islands was extrapolated to the overall grid size.

    The highest gridpoint value in the Maldives that I could find is 28973.89.
    As it is close to the equator, the 30x30 km gridpoint assumption should still be valid. Consequently, in that gridpoint alone, there would live more than…
