Can I get annual PM2.5 data from 1998 to 2012?
The Global Annual PM2.5 Grids from MODIS, MISR and SeaWiFS Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD) data sets represent a series of three-year running mean grids (1998-2012) of fine particulate matter. Can I get annual data from this dataset?

Values in gl_grumpv1_ntlbndid_ascii_30 don’t match between .dbf and .asc files
I’m looking at the identifier grid file, and the values in the gluntlbnds.dbf file don't match the content of the data in gluntlbnds.asc. For example, when I inspect the 1x1 degree area surrounding the point where Poland, Germany, and the Czech Republic meet, I see the values 167, 52, and 51. In the .dbf file, these should be 137, 111, and 110 respectively.

consider removing logins
Every semester, I required my environmental science college class to go to your website and browse through your biome maps to find their "home" biome. However, since you now require people to create an account, I have had to direct my students to other, lower quality maps elsewhere. I don't want them to have to spend 5 minutes creating a login just to use the site for few minutes and I certainly don't want them to all have to give up their email address. These are students, not data points.

Human Influence Index 2005-2014?
I am looking at the possibility of using the HII to understand anthropogenic impact on North American birds as a part of my graduate research. I noticed that the data available is for 1995-2004 and was wondering if 2005-14 is on the works. SO my questions are: 1. Are you working on HII 2005-14? and 2. If you are, will the data be publicly available? When? Thanks.
2 votesHi,
There are plans to update the HII. However, we are waiting for the updates to the input data layers of HII. An updated HII may not be available until next year.
To be notified of the latest data releases, including HII and related news that may interest you, please consider following SEDAC on twitter (twitter.com/ciesin) or Facebook (Socioeconomic Data and Applications Center).

WMS Improvement
Thank you for providing yours data and service.
I have two suggestion for your server configuration that can improve your WMS
1) Can you make the content available via HTTPS? (https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Security/MixedContent/How_to_fix_website_with_mixed_content)
2) Can you adding CORS support to the server? (http://www.html5rocks.com/en/tutorials/cors/#toc-adding-cors-support-to-the-server)
Thank you for your kind cooperation.

fill in Northern Pakistan
I thought I had a bad download, but the documentation shows a hole in N. Pakistan. This area is filled in VMAP, so it seems like that area could be filled. Is there a version of groads asia that includes this?

... check the ascii population density (2000) dataset for the Philippines.
It appears to be erroneous. It doesn't show the correct map of the Philippines. I had to use the Asia dataset to get the correct map.

Download doesn't work
on this page: http://sedac.ciesin.columbia.edu/data/set/gpw-v3-population-density/data-download
After I logged in, filled all the fields (region>global>Pop Density grid>grid>2.5'>2000), and hit "Download", nothing happens. I tried with Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.2 votesAdminWebmaster (Webmaster, SEDAC) respondedThanks for the feedback. Checking it now. It seems to be working on those browsers for me at the moment. Please try downloading again but bypass logging in by using the ’Guest Download" button at the bottom of the login/signup page that comes up after clicking the download button. Hope that makes some sense. Let us know if you continue have problems.

provide .qml file with appropriate color map
I am not sure of what color ramp to use to visualise Global Human Footprint appropriately in my maps and legends. Would be great if you would provide a .qml file with style that fits your index.

Is there any way to download maps in a georreferenced .tif file? Thanks.
The closest way i figured is to download the ascii file and import it as a raster, but it has no spatial reference.
Thank you beforehand

make downloads resumable
Very large data-sets (e.g., global roads at ~200MB) are very difficult to download at one go when in poor/unreliable bandwidth areas. Suggest one or more of the following:
1. breakup data sets into smaller regional and/or country level chunks
2. allow downloads to resume after interruption
3. use distributed methods of serving data (p2p, torrents, etc) ... this will also reduce your server / bandwidth requirements!4 votes -
information about data encoding
Hello,
I downloaded "Gridded Population of the World, Version 3 (GPWv3): Centroids". It is really terrific data! Bravo!
But I must say that I wasn't able to use correctly administrative level names: problems with diacritic symbols (like "ñ", "ç", "à" etc.).
I couldn't identify encoding of data (unicode, ISO8859-1, ?). So please could you give information about this encoding (inside metadata?).
Thanks in advance.

improving the color chart of the Hazard map
RE : http://sedac.ciesin.org/maps/client
Hello,
The blue background is confusing, because I associate blue with the color of sea.
It is particularly true of the world map of Flood Hazards, I can not associate easily the colors on the maps, and the colors in the legend.
Yours sincerely,

Increase the number in your display drop down to "All."
By having to download multiple files, 50 records at a time, it increases the chance for error. But also means I need to spend lots of time making sure I got everything.

Thanks.
