improving the color chart of the Hazard map
RE : http://sedac.ciesin.org/maps/client
Hello,
The blue background is confusing, because I associate blue with the color of sea.
It is particularly true of the world map of Flood Hazards, I can not associate easily the colors on the maps, and the colors in the legend.
Yours sincerely,

information about data encoding
Hello,
I downloaded "Gridded Population of the World, Version 3 (GPWv3): Centroids". It is really terrific data! Bravo!
But I must say that I wasn't able to use correctly administrative level names: problems with diacritic symbols (like "ñ", "ç", "à" etc.).
I couldn't identify encoding of data (unicode, ISO8859-1, ?). So please could you give information about this encoding (inside metadata?).
Thanks in advance.

Is there any way to download maps in a georreferenced .tif file? Thanks.
The closest way i figured is to download the ascii file and import it as a raster, but it has no spatial reference.
Thank you beforehand

provide .qml file with appropriate color map
I am not sure of what color ramp to use to visualise Global Human Footprint appropriately in my maps and legends. Would be great if you would provide a .qml file with style that fits your index.

have a more flexible way of searching the Map Gallery
On the URL http://sedac.ciesin.columbia.edu/maps/gallery/search/10 I sought information about the United States, in connection with my present research. By page 7 I realized the maps are largely sorted alphabetically by geographical location. Since I aim to see what's available, it appears that I have to click "next" another five dozen times in order to possibly reach the maps for USA. Is there a shortcut?
1 voteMurray, there is a “browse by location” at the bottom of the left column on the map gallery page. You can choose the US from there and that will limit the gallery to three pages. You can also search for “United States” at the top of the same column. If there is a specific map or data set you are interested in let us know and we can tell you what we have available.
Cheers,

fill in Northern Pakistan
I thought I had a bad download, but the documentation shows a hole in N. Pakistan. This area is filled in VMAP, so it seems like that area could be filled. Is there a version of groads asia that includes this?

consider removing logins
Every semester, I required my environmental science college class to go to your website and browse through your biome maps to find their "home" biome. However, since you now require people to create an account, I have had to direct my students to other, lower quality maps elsewhere. I don't want them to have to spend 5 minutes creating a login just to use the site for few minutes and I certainly don't want them to all have to give up their email address. These are students, not data points.
If the purpose of your site providing information to the…

Values in gl_grumpv1_ntlbndid_ascii_30 don’t match between .dbf and .asc files
I’m looking at the identifier grid file, and the values in the gluntlbnds.dbf file don't match the content of the data in gluntlbnds.asc. For example, when I inspect the 1x1 degree area surrounding the point where Poland, Germany, and the Czech Republic meet, I see the values 167, 52, and 51. In the .dbf file, these should be 137, 111, and 110 respectively.

Can I get annual PM2.5 data from 1998 to 2012?
The Global Annual PM2.5 Grids from MODIS, MISR and SeaWiFS Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD) data sets represent a series of three-year running mean grids (1998-2012) of fine particulate matter. Can I get annual data from this dataset?

comparison between GPWv3, GRUMP and worldpop
I found large inconsistencies for population count in Tanzania between GPW 2010 and worldpop 2010 at the district level (2002 boundaries). It looks like GRUMP is more comparable, but it is difficult to compare as GRUMP is not available for 2010. Do you know the reason for the inconsistencies? and would you recommend GPW or GRUMP when calculating population at the district level? Finally, will GRUMP be available for later years in the near future?

Use much higher resolution data avilable for Norway
The GPW4 maps (e.g. http://beta.sedac.ciesin.columbia.edu/data/set/gpw-v4-population-density-adjusted-to-2015-unwpp-country-totals) uses lower resolution data sets for some countries than necessary. Nor example, it only goes down to municipality level in Norway, while 250 m resolution for that country is available here:
https://www.ssb.no/natur-og-miljo/geodata
It is distributed as a set of shapes (https://www.ssb.no/natur-og-miljo/_attachment/101145?_ts=13d3e62d7d0), and corresponding densities (https://www.ssb.no/natur-og-miljo/_attachment/260833?_ts=153847c0a78). I'm sure similar data is available for most other European countries.1 vote -
I think that GDP layers do not have projection
Hello, in GDP layers' metadata it describes WGS84 as its projection. Despite that, after downloading these layers, I realized that the folder just contained the tiff documents. So I think you may not have realized these layers are not projected.
All the best,

Give step-by-step instructions on using your datasets
There should be a guide on how to properly use the datasets ie how to open them, use the data in JSON format. I, as a new user, know not how to open .tiff files or how to get the data into a CSV or JSON format. Guidelines on this would be much appreciated. The dataset I have downloaded is the zip with population density for 2015 for e.g.

Provide a sample request for WPS Population Estimation
I am trying to execute the WPS but I'm not sure if the format of the xml that I'm providing is correct. A sample request would help me and other users to use the plugin more efficiently.
Thanks
